Temple University's Student Association is located on the Ambler Campus in suburban Montgomery County, PA. This group of aspiring landscape architects and horticulturalists is led by third year graduate student Josh Hitchner. Josh has always had a passion in restoration and the environment.

When planning trips or events it is important to him that students gain knowledge of something that may not be exposed to in the classroom. The last trip they sponsored was to Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, a botanical garden and accredited museum located in New Hope PA. The Preserve advocates the use of native plants, and is an educational resource promoting conservation and stewardship. On a rainy fall day the group toured the propagation and production areas of the native plant nursery. Staff shared tips, tricks and techniques for propagating native plants as well as lead discussion on seed collection techquies and seed provenance. The trip was concluded with a guided tour of the gardens, gardens designed and maintained for beauty as well as ecological function.
