Event title: Guidance, resources, and case studies to support delivery of global restoration goals

Description: The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration aims to increase the effectiveness of ecosystem restoration for biodiversity, ecosystem integrity and human health and well-being. The UN Decade has adopted the restoration goal of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework to bring 30% of degraded areas under effective restoration by 2030. Restoration is also a priority topic for the UNCCD negotiations at this COP. But all restoration is not equal. Multiple resources, tools, and case studies are helping Parties, the private sector, and civil society better understand, implement, and monitor restoration and restoration impacts to achieve balanced ecological and social uplift/net gain for people and nature. This session will highlight new and emerging restoration tools and resources to support the delivery of all components of effective restoration, while also providing real world standards-based restoration case studies. Featured tools will include the "Standards of practice to guide ecosystem restoration for the Decade," jointly developed by IUCN CEM, FAO and SER with engagement by authors and experts from over 57 countries. This event will showcase IUCN CEM’s continued engagement in restoration and significantly contribute to efforts to improve delivery of strategic targets under the UNCCD, including by soliciting input from the audience.
