Details/Description

The Center for Natural Lands Management works with several different state and federal agencies to provide restoration on private and public property. The Prairie Restoration intern will assist with planting native plants, sowing seeds, invasive plant control, oak restoration, and prescribed fire. Scotch broom is one of the more prevalent invasive weeds on the prairie. It is a nitrogen fixing shrub that can change the soil chemistry and vegetation structure of the prairie, which in turn makes it more suitable for other non-native plants.
