Watershed Program Manager

This is a full-time position with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation's Watershed Program.  The Watershed Program Manager will be responsible for supporting all aspects of BEF's Model Watershed Restoration Grants Program. Key duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:
.     Develop and sustain relationships with tribes, agencies, and
community-based watershed groups and collaborate with local stakeholders and scientific advisors to both design and evaluate long-term (10+year) watershed restoration and monitoring strategies.
.     Understand the principles of watershed science, ecological monitoring,
and fish and wildlife management and use this knowledge to support all aspects of watershed restoration and monitoring work conducted by BEF's Model Watershed program grantees.
.     Provide the full range of administrative support necessary to
effectively and accountably manage a watershed restoration grants program.
.     Participate in the development of materials, professional papers,
and/or presentations that describe BEF's watershed program strategies, progress, and results.

Washington Conservation Corpsmember

AmeriCorps – Washington Conservation Corps, seeking individuals who are willing to accept challenges, participate as a team player, and have the desire to learn and grow.  Are you looking to experience what could be one of the most rewarding years of your life? The Washington Conservation Corps (WCC) is an opportunity for WCC Members to learn valuable job skills and receive training while gaining experience in the environmental field. The diversity of WCC Projects provides something for everybody!   The WCC is open to 18-25 year olds. Previous experience is not required and WCC Corpsmembers earn the Washington State minimum wage.  We currently employ 135 Corpsmembers and the positions are located statewide from the peaks of the Olympics to the fields of Eastern Washington will begin in October 2008 and end in September of 2009.   The WCC works on an assortment of natural resource activities which may include some of the following types of projects: construction, restoration & enhancement, emergency response and community service.  WCC members receive on the job training of all sorts, as well as formal training classes (e.g., Wilderness First Responder, Hazardous Materials Response, Wildland Firefighting, Ethnobotany, and PFC/GIS. Many of our training courses result in a certification.

After successful completion of your 1 year WCC service term, you will receive an education award of $4,725 (12 months/1700 hour service term) from AmeriCorps. The education award can be used to pay for tuition at an institute of higher education (trade schools included) or to pay back qualified student loans.  Your qualified student loans can be deferred while you are enrolled in the program. Greenway Conservation Corpsmembers

Spend the summer or a year building and maintaining trails, restoring wetlands and creekside habitat, surveying and eradicating invasive weeds and removing abandoned logging roads.  Working throughout the Mountains to Sound Greenway just outside of Seattle, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a highly successful team in an energetic, productive and fast-paced environment.  Through extensive hands-on involvement in a wide variety of projects and agency partnerships as well as environmental education, you will learn about ecological and recreational use issues on public natural lands and build skills in public land management.
