These positions are a part of a team of river engineers, scientists and planners in the River and Floodplain Management Unit that support the implementation of projects and programs identified in the 2006 King County Flood Hazard Management Plan in support of the newly formed King County Flood Control Zone District. These positions will perform lead river and hydraulic engineering design and technical analyses for complex river and floodplain management projects and programs; conduct field investigations and assessments of river conditions and flood facilities; gather engineering data and related information necessary to scope technical studies; develop maintenance needs and conceptual designs for flood damage repair projects; and staff flood warning, emergency and disaster response activities to evaluate flood damages to river facilities as part of post-flood documentation. These positions will be assigned to one of several geographic river basin teams, with the majority of work duties focused geographically. However there also will be opportunities to work across the County supporting the overall Rivers program. Restoration Technician

 

Location: Methow Natives Nursery, Winthrop,WA

Methow Natives is currently seeking qualified candidates for a restoration technician position for the 2010 field season. The position will be divided between restoration and nursery activities. Restoration duties include planting, irrigation, weed control and fence repair. Nursery work includes all aspects of native plant propagation such as seed collection and cleaning, transplanting and nursery maintenance. Successful candidates will need a bachelors in natural sciences or a background in restoration and native plant work. Applicants should have a strong work ethic, be creative, energetic and able to work independently. Valid drivers license necessary. Salary DOE. Housing available.

 

Methow Natives is a small, family run, restoration nursery located in the beautiful Methow Valley. We have been growing native plants and restoring the local watershed the past ten years. Methow Natives works with a variety of agencies including  WDOT, USFS. WDFW, USFW. Yakama Tribe, and the Methow Salmon Recovery Foundation.
