Design to Dirt 2005: Beyond Basics
A Workshop for Restoration Practitioners
December 2, 2005
The Society for Ecological Restoration NW is pleased to provide you with a copy of the presentations and resource materials that were products of the 2005 Design to Dirt: Beyond Basics Workshop Series. The present series included three workshops: Project Site Maintenance: the Bane of Habitat Restoration , September 23-24; Vegetation Monitoring: Is it Everything We Meant it to Be? , September 30-October 1; and Revegetation Design and Installation: Hitting the Right Target , October 20.
The workshop information is intended to be shared with the hope that through continuous discussion and exchange of methods and ideas, our common goal of restoring and maintaining the ecosystem functions of the Puget Sound region can be realized. We consider our efforts as "work in progress", open to continuing updates as we learn and gain understanding about the various habitats we strive to conserve, protect and restore. When presenting or sharing this information, we would appreciate your citing the author and organization who provided the information. We have included author citations with each presentation for your use.
It is my hope that we can continue to produce restoration workshops throughout the Northwest and I welcome your ideas for topics and venues. Finally, on behalf of the Society for Ecological Restoration NW. I would like to express my appreciation to the King County Department of Natural Resources, Water and Land Resources Division for funding provided for the workshop series, the University of Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture for administrative support and to the Washington State University Cooperative Extension in Snohomish County for the use of their facilities at McCollum Park in Everett.
