SERNW Committees

SERNW Board created committees to address certain needs of the chapter.  All board members take on one or two committees in addition to their regular duties on the Executive Board or as Sub-Regional Representative.

If you are interested in volunteering for committee work, review the list and descriptions below send us an e-mail to get involved.

OR if you see a gap you would like to fill by heading up a new committee let us know. We'll help you get started.

Input and help from our membership is valuable to us!  If you have some time please consider volunteering.

Budget Committee

The Budget committee is responsible for all fiscal planning including our operating and conference budget preparation.  Their job is to see that our plans are based on fiscal realities, and that we have the funds to accomplish our goals

Conference Committee

The SERNW Conference is our pinnacle event.  Every two years we strive to bring the best restoration professionals together for 3 days or more of continuing education, training and networking.  We set a high standard for these events and are proud of the work we've done in the past.  The Conference committee sets the conference theme, and proposes event budget; oversees operations including venue, audio/visual needs, food and beverage service, volunteers; and obtains speakers and presenters.

Workshop Committee

The Workshop committee strives to put on smaller events about every six months as one-day training events.  Our successful Design to Dirt Series has been very popular and we hope to keep producing more.  The Workshop committee also works with the Conference committee to provide workshop opportunities at our conferences.

Bylaw Committee

SERNW Bylaws are the governing rules for our chapter.  With changing needs of the chapter, new methods for old tasks and changes in chapter organization, the Bylaw committee has its hands reviewing, revising and editing the Bylaws and Board Policies.  The 2006 General Meeting passed a vote to amend out Bylaws, but there remains much to do.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is responsible for finding, selecting and nominating individuals to fill board positions.  Of course any SERNW member can run for a board position, but in those occasions when we have vacancies the Nominating committee finds and attracts people to fill or run for these positions.  The committee looks to recruit people with skill sets that complement the current board make-up or desired to abilities for specific positions.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is chartered with the responsibility to ensure that our chapter provides good services to our members, makes sure that our membership stays engaged, and seeks ways to grow the membership base.

Awards Committee

The Awards Committee is established to provide recognition to individuals for outstanding service to SERNW.  Nominations can be made to the committee any time through out the year, and will be decided by the Awards Committee, with the exception of the President's Award, by December 31st of each year.

President's Award
To be awarded at the discretion of the Council President.

Conservationist of the Year
For recognition of year-long efforts to preserve, protect, restore or enhance environments necessary for healthy ecosystems.

Special Awards
To be awarded to a member who has contributed time, talent and outstanding service in support of SERNW.
