2009 Oren Pollak Memorial Student Research Grant For Grassland Science

The Nature Conservancy will be granting up to $4,000 for assistance to a student to conduct research on grasslands in California or Oregon.  Favor will be given to projects that focus on restoration, management, or basic grassland science.  Proposed projects may include research on grassland plants, animals, or community ecology.  Locating projects on TNC preserves and coordinating with TNC preserve managers is desirable but not mandatory. 

Any student needing assistance for the implementation of a grassland research project may apply.  This includes high school, undergraduate or graduate level students. To apply - send a  project prospectus which includes:

•        Your name and contact information

•        Who the project will be supervised by

•        Why the project is important

•        A summary of the proposed methods

•        A time table for project completion and a budget

The project prospectus should be no longer than 2 pages, including maps and figures (single side, citations (not text) may lap over to a 3rd page if needed).  The final date for receipt of proposals is January 15, 2009.  Notification of the award recipient will be announced no later than February 15, 2009.
