The Society for Ecological Restoration announced the release of “Ecological Restoration for Protected Areas: Principles, Guidelines and Best Practices” at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Jeju, Korea, on September 7, 2012.

This is the latest volume in the IUCN’s Best Practice Protected Area Guidelines series, recognized as a source of leading-edge guidance on the establishment and management of protected areas.

IUCN’s World Commission on Protected Areas developed these guidelines in collaboration with Parks Canada, the Society for Ecological Restoration, the U.N. Convention on Biological Diversity, and many others.  This publication provides advice on underlying principles and guidelines, technical best practices, and implementation processes for restoration.  Moreover, it presents case studies of on-the-ground restoration experiences in and around protected areas across the globe.
