Professional Development

The Society for Ecological Restoration provides a variety of opportunities for professional development for everyone working in the field of ecological restoration, whether you are an SER member or not. Opportunities range from the excellent networking and educational opportunities available at our chapter and international conferences, to a robust continuing education program that includes regional, national and international workshops and webinars, to a new ecological restoration practitioner certification program, which will be formally launched in early 2017.

Certification
SER is excited to announce our new ecological restoration practitioner certification program. This program will certify practitioners and practitioners-in-training who meet the certification requirements based on knowledge base, experience, references, ethics, and understanding of the foundations of the profession.  The first application window will be  January to March 2017.
Webinars
Webinars are an important part of SER’s professional development tools and they will also be an accessible tool for earning a portion of your continuing education credits for SER certification. We recently began archiving our webinars for convenient viewing at any time. If webinars do count toward continuing education credits, the number of credits will be posted with the webinar description as well as the information needed to document that you participated in the webinar.
Academic Programs in Ecological Restoration
The Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) partnered with University of Montana (UM) and Ecological Connections (EC) to assess growth in academic programs in ecological restoration over the last decade. The June 2016 assessment identified 63 ecological restoration programs within the US and Canada, listed here.
Internship Board
SER maintains an active internship board to announce internship opportunities related to the field of ecological restoration. Internship seekers can search the Internship Board by region and category. Internship openings are free and easy to post.
Jobs Board

Job seekers can create a profile within the job board to receive notifications about new openings.
