SER is very pleased to announce a new Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Society of Wetland Scientists to work together to advance “science, management, conservation, education and policy related to wetland restoration.” The MOC is a great opportunity for both Societies to better advance our missions and will provide increased networking and outreach opportunities for members of both organizations.

Gillian Davies, President of the Board of SWS, and Bethanie Walder, Executive Director of SER, signed the MOC while on a day-long field trip of restoration sites around Massachusetts, led by Tim Purinton, Director of the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration. Tidmarsh Farms was the highlight of the field trip (though there were many very interesting stops!), and signing our MOC while overlooking a former cranberry bog was very fitting – Tidmarsh is the largest freshwater wetland restoration site in New England. In addition to signing our MOC while at Tidmarsh, it was a true inspiration to visit the area and to learn about both past and future plans from cranberry farmers turned restorationists Glorianna Davenport and Evan Schulman. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for more information about their work, and their nonprofit, Living Observatory, next week.
