The SER Mid-Atlantic Chapter is now accepting abstracts for papers and posters to be 
considered for inclusion in the 2014 annual conference program. The selected contributed papers will be delivered during afternoon concurrent sessions on Friday, March 21, 2014. Each presenter will be given 20 minutes. The selected posters will be displayed throughout the day and presented during a “Poster Pub” after the sessions. 
 
This conference will discuss how to evaluate the success or failure of ecological restoration projects. post should address the following topics:

  • Successes, failures, and current status of restoration projects (case studies welcome) 
  • Design of sustainable landscapes 
  • Prevention and restoration of biodiversity loss 
  • Ecosystem resilience 
  • Novel ecosystems 
  • Global climate changes affecting ecological community composition 
  • Trends in invasive species distribution related to urban systems 
  • Green infrastructure connections to ecological restoration 
  • Agro-ecology connections to ecological restoration 
  • Management of sites experiencing ecological change 
  • Ecosystem services and economics 
  • Re-establishing landscape connectivity 
  • Design of future restoration projects 
Approximately 300 restoration practitioners, scientists, administrators, environmental engineers, landscape architects, land stewards, students, and others are expected to attend the conference. Please send paper or poster abstracts to LWhalen2@gmail.com by January 10th, 2014. Indicate whether you are proposing a talk or a poster, and provide the following information: 

  • Paper or Poster Title 
  • Abstract (500 word max) 
  • Bio or Resume (200 word max) including name, affiliation and contact information (phone number and email) 
Applicants will be notified of the selection committee’s decisions by February 15th, 2014.
