 SER Staff
Executive Director Steve Bosak
As Executive Director of the Society, Steve works to build new partnerships, strengthen existing initiatives and guide the society in its day to day operations. Having dedicated more than 20 years to conservation causes, Steve is excited to step into his new role and put his experience and expertise to work as the Executive Director of SER.
Steve grew up in New York State and earned his Bachelors at Colgate University and his Masters in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He has developed policy expertise on a variety of issue areas that range from coastal habitat restoration and National Park management in North America, to biodiversity protection and carbon sequestration in New Zealand. Recently, Steve provided business development and other consulting services for Noble Conservation Solutions, and prior to that worked for the Waikato Regional Council for the government of New Zealand. Steve has held positions as Vice President of External Affairs at Restore America’s Estuaries and worked as a Program Director, Senior Legislative Representative, and Program Manager for the National Parks Conservation Association. Steve has lived in Washington D.C. since 1999 with wife and three children and enjoys hiking with his kids, biking, coaching baseball, and gardening.
 Program Director Sasha Alexander
In this role, he develops and implements a variety of projects and programs that are key to SER’s emergence as the leading international organization dedicated to ecological restoration. He coordinates the Science & Policy Committee, administers the Global Restoration and Indigenous Peoples’ Restoration Networks, edits the weekly e-newsletter RESTORE, and spearheads a number of international collaborations and partnerships--among many other responsibilities.
Sasha has had a variety of work and travel experiences that have led him to SER, from working as a trade policy analyst for the US Department of Agriculture to the monitoring of World Bank environmental loans, and many things in between. He first encountered SER while doing research on halophytes and working with a group of scientists from Arizona focused on saline agriculture. He grew up in the northeast US, shifting from Baltimore to Boston and points in between on an educational odyssey, finally completing his masters at Yale University.
 Project Coordinator Levi Wickwire
As Project Coordinator, Levi works in a number of different capacities to help develop the Society's programs and activities. In addition to building and maintaining the Global Restoration Network, serving as editor of the quarterly newsletter SERNews and conducting public outreach, he plays an integral role in planning and organizing the Society's biannual World Conference on Ecological Restoration. A fluent Spanish speaker, he has been instrumental in helping SER expand its presence in Latin America by translating a variety of restoration-related materials and fostering collaborative relationships with practitioners throughout the region.
His interest in ecology arose out of studies in anthropology at Northern Arizona University, where he discovered an enduring fascination with ethnobotany and traditional ecological knowledge. Subsequent travels in Latin America and exposure to rural livelihoods only served to deepen this interest, and SER has afforded him an invaluable opportunity to broaden his base of knowledge and contribute something tangible to efforts aimed at safeguarding biodiversity and fostering sustainable relationships between humans and their natural surroundings.
 Membership Manager Caroline Bronaugh caroline@ser.org
After graduating from Tulane University in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in Communications and International Development, Caroline served two years as Membership Coordinator for the Young Leadership Council (YLC), a 1,300+ member volunteer organization in New Orleans, LA, USA. At the YLC, her role required effective organization and communication with over 30 volunteer project leaders, a 25-member Board of Directors, multiple corporate members and individuals at all levels of the organization.
In addition to her background as a Membership Manager, Caroline possesses a growing passion for environmental issues sparked by restoration efforts aimed at Louisiana's coastal wetlands. She is excited for the opportunity to expand her knowledge in worldwide restoration efforts and to grow upon her experience in volunteer management, marketing and recruitment to serve SER as it continues to grow in size and impact.
 Communications Coordinator Leah Bregman leah@ser.org
Leah Bregman recently graduated with an MSc in Conservation from University College London (UCL) in London, UK, after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Leah is excited to be contributing to the conservation and restoration efforts of SER with her education and research experience. Leah also lends to the team her strong understanding of both the practical and political challenges facing our natural systems. Her well-established connections with the Virginia Master Naturalists and Riverbend Park in Fairfax County, as well as her international perspective from her conservation studies in England and Canada, are a true asset to the team.
As the Communications Coordinator, Leah will provide valuable support and input to new and existing projects. She values the opportunity to advance with SER as it expands, working toward the development of new ideas and programs with the SER team.
