Getting Ready for a Chapter Conference?

Following is an overview of the conference-related perks we’re offering to all of our chapters for 2007-2008. Please forward this information to any of your volunteers who are working on conferences for your chapter, and let us know how we can help!

CHAPTER CONFERENCE CALENDAR

Please send us the date/time/location of your 2008 conferences (and other chapter events) as soon as you have the info so we can post a “Save the Date” notice on our website calendar of events (this is in addition to whatever you post on your chapter web pages). We can add more information as it becomes available, but many people (including me!) like to know as far in advance as possible for preparing budgets and making travel arrangements.

MEMBERSHIP GIFT CERTIFICATES

We’d like to offer every chapter 3 gift certificates for complimentary one-year Professional memberships to SER International. You can use these at your conference or other meeting for award recipients, door prize drawings, etc. The benefits of these memberships, including a print/online subscription to Restoration Ecology journal and an embroidered SER logo hat, are worth more than $700 each! Contact me to request your certificates.

DUAL CHAPTER-SER ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIPS

As an incentive for chapter members who are not already members of SER International, we are pleased to offer a free one-year Associate membership, which you can promote in conjunction with your conference to help boost chapter membership sales. All individuals with dual chapter-SER membership will receive the SER International newsletter. These members are welcome to upgrade to a higher membership level at any time, if there are other benefits they’d like to receive. Contact us to set this up.

SER INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITING

We would like to attend as many chapter conferences as we can in 2008, as our travel budget allows. If you have an exhibitor area, we request that you waive or discount your exhibitor booth fee for us, as well as ask your conference center sales rep for a complimentary sleeping room for us at the conference hotel, if possible. These savings will help us stretch our travel budget even more. If we’re not able to attend your event, we may be able to loan you the use of our beautiful exhibit, if it’s available. Contact us to find out if this is a possibility.

BULK LITERATURE & PUBLICATIONS

Selected SER materials are available in bulk quantities upon request for chapters to distribute at conferences and other meetings. Free literature includes the SER Primer on Ecological Restoration, the SER brochure, the SER membership application, the GRN promotional postcard or flier, and sample copies of the SER newsletter and Restoration Ecology journal. Contact us for shipping rates (in many cases, we can ship materials to you at no charge, depending on the size of the shipment).
