Opportunity location: Langeberg Mountains of the Western Cape
Opportunity Description:
Wildcliff is a Private Nature Reserve in the mountains of South Afric'a's Western Cape province/an easy drive from Cape Town. It was founded by Ian and Genevieve Giddy in 2007. It is owned by the Wild Cape Nature Trust and is held in perpetuity for purposes of conservation and research.
Wildcliff consists of 955 hectares (2300 acres)/deep kloofs with afro-montane forest/rocky mountaintops and high meadows of South Africa's unique fynbos flora. It borders on the Boosmansbos Wilderness Area/a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We seek volunteers who can help eradicate the invasive black wattle that covers part of the reserve and threatens to spread. This species displaces the native vegetation and has long-lived seeds/and will only succumb to a determined program of eradication.
We also invite proposals for research and study at Wildcliff.
